Anyone who is not an Australian citizen or does not have Australian residence status will be enrolled as an International Student and will require a Student Visa. The International Office can assist with visa and other arrangements.

After an international applicant has been accepted for admission to the course by the Faculty of Medicine, the University's International Office will arrange to facilitate visa and other entry requirements.

Overseas applications will be processed on receipt to allow applicants time to organise funding for course costs and living expenses. Further information is available from Australian embassies and high commissions, and from offices of the International Development Program of Australian Universities and Colleges.

Please note: as an International student, you must be enrolled full-time, which means that you must be enrolled in 24 credit points per semester.

Below are just some of the scholarships currently available for International Students:

The Asian Development Bank-Government of Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) - Postgraduate Coursework
The Asian Development Bank offers opportunities for talented individuals from its developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies with the support of the above scholarship program funded by the Government of Japan. To be eligible to apply for the ADB-JSP, candidates must gain admission to one of a limited number of coursework courses offered by the University of Sydney, including the Master or Graduate Diploma in Public Health within the Faculty of Medicine. Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) are funded by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) as part of Australia's foreign aid program. The ADS provide opportunities for people from selected developing countries to study in Australia. The objective of this scholarship scheme is to allow people to gain knowledge and skills that will help the development of their home country when they return after completing their study. These scholarships are awarded for both undergraduate and postgraduate study, either on merit or on nomination by home governments. Information and application forms for the ADS must be obtained directly from the Australian Diplomatic Mission or the Australian Education Centre in your home country. The application process may take up to one year.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) - Research only
These scholarships are funded by the Australian Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST). Providing tuition fees only, they are available to individuals wishing to undertake research studies. Applications are assessed on academic merit and research potential. In addition to the IPRS, the University of Sydney awards International Postgraduate Awards (IPA) to IPRS holders each year. Applications for the IPRS may be submitted between 1st May and 31st August each year. Application forms and more information may be found on the University's Scholarships for International Students website. The closing date for the IPRS is 31 August each year. All IPRS applications will also be considered for the IPA, and no separate application is required.
